The Cozzamara Football Team

- Cozzamara is a football team established 15 April 2008 and is enrolled to the Icelandic Egils-gull "Utandeild" competition. The team counts more than 20 members, 2 of which are girls. They are our "secret weapon" for winning the competition. We are a group of friends who played indoors the whole winter and decided to do something fun together also during the summer. Our goal is to have fun, using fair play, and take the results as it comes. But of course we want to win the cup! ;-) In our team there are 13 italians, 5 Icelanders, 2 Swedes, 2 British and one Brazilian. The name Cozzamara (litterally means bitter mussel) was inspired by the "Ristorante Cozzamara", which is the nickname of the apartment of our friend Michele, famous for organising delicious and unforgettable Italian "food-parties". Cozzamara is also a character of the movie "Johnny Stecchino", directed and played by Roberto Benigni. In the movie Cozzamara is a Mafia boss, and we choose this name also to play with the persistent stereotype Italy=Mafia. Cozzamara is also the name of a traditional Tarantella folk music from South of Italy.
